The Vitals™ Aware Services mobile applications (“Vitals™” app) was established to provide added safety and security for vulnerable adults and youth. We work in partnership with emergency responders, 911 call centers, and law enforcement to securely relay critical information from subscribers, who voluntarily share the information, to first responders. Vitals™ App takes the privacy of your information very seriously and will only share it with authorized emergency services and public service employees.
Our Commitment to Your Privacy
VITALS™ APP collects and stores PPI via a website, thevitalsapp.com, and via an IOS or Android app. We work in partnership with public safety and emergency response agencies, public and private schools, and nonprofit agencies to promote the Service. All data collection occurs via thevitalsapp.com domain, subdomain or within the Android or IOS app.
Service Critical Functions
Vitals™ is a service designed to dramatically improve interactions between first responders and individuals with invisible/visible conditions and disabilities through the use of a Bluetooth beacon and smartphone app technology. Our service provides greater peace of mind for families and a bridge of communication that is needed for first responders and vulnerable individuals.
Increasing Public Safety: The Vitals™ app is a game-changing tool supporting the core function of first responders – helping people and saving lives. Having information in the hands of first responders keeps them safer and their community safer. It facilitates effective encounters between responders and people living with invisible or unpredictable conditions.
Critical information for split-second decisions: Caregivers and individuals can supply critical information, triggers and proven de-escalation techniques, ensuring those first responders have the right information on how to respond to individuals with visible or invisible conditions and disabilities who may be at risk.
Provided in real-time: First responders who come within 80 feet of a Vitals™ beacon are automatically notified and given information on how to best serve and protect the individual – reducing the risk of misunderstanding and negative interactions. Emergency Call Centers (911 Dispatch) are automatically notified and given information to relay to first responders when a phone number in the Vitals™ App connects with the call center.
What personal information do we collect from the people that visit our blog, website or app?
When subscribing to the service, ordering or registering on our site, as appropriate, you may be asked to enter your name, email address, residential address, phone number or other details to aid your experience and allow Vitals™ to provide its service. PPI is essential for the function of the Vitals™ service.
When do we collect information?
We collect information from you when you fill out a form or enter information on our site or in the app. We also collect anonymous information from website visits (see Google, Cookies, and Marketing below.) Through the Vitals™ App, subscribers may voluntarily provide information pertinent to emergency situations, including medical or mental health conditions, de-escalation techniques, emergency contacts or multi-media files.
How do we use your information?
We may use the information we collect from you when you register, make a purchase, sign up for our newsletter, respond to a survey or marketing communication, surf the website, or use certain other site features. We may use the information to follow up with you after correspondence (live chat, email or phone inquiries).
How are location services used?
Subscribers may elect to turn on location services for their IOS or Android device; it is not required for the base level subscription but is required for some advanced functionality and services. If location services are not shared, some functionality pertaining to geo-fencing and localized emergency response may not fully function. Location services may be used to inform 911 or emergency responders of a specific location when an alert is triggered by a call to 911 or responders are otherwise dispatched.
Vitals™ Profile911 Plus uses a Bluetooth beacon or location services on an Android device (not yet available on Apple) to locate an individual who may be in danger or distress; who may be in close proximity to a first responder; or a vulnerable person whose whereabouts are unknown. Only authorized responders or caregivers may have access to location services data.
Vitals™ does not use location services data for any other purpose than safety and security of the vulnerable individual and interactions with first responders. Location services are not used for marketing or other behavior tracking.
How do we protect your information?
Vitals™ uses data encryption to protect data in transit and at rest. Data in transit is transported using SSL to encrypt all web communication between the application clients and servers. Data at rest is encrypted with Amazon Web Service’s server-side encryption using AWS EBS encryption. The Vitals™ website uses secure HTTPS protocols to protect data.
Financial data: All Service transactions occur within the IOS or Android app store. Vitals™ does not collect credit card data for its Services. Optional product purchase transactions may occur on Shopify, which is certified Level 1 PCI DSS compliant.
Profile data: Information that is uploaded to us by authorized caregivers and relating to vulnerable individuals is protected and encrypted in our systems. The author of that information has access to that information and can edit or delete that information at any time. That information is shared with authorized emergency responders or public agencies when a notification triggers the 911 call center or the Vitals™ First Responder App. Notifications may be triggered by 1) phone number or address associated with a subscription seeks emergency assistance using 911 or 2) a Bluetooth device purchased by the subscriber is in close proximity to an emergency responder carrying the Vitals™ First Responder App. No subscriber data is stored or save on the First Responder App device.
Do we use ‘cookies’?
You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies. You do this through your browser settings. Since each browser is a little different, you should look at your browser’s Help Menu to learn the correct way to modify your cookies. If you turn cookies off, some features will be disabled. That may change your site experience and some aspects of our software and may not function properly.
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your Personally Identifiable Information unless we provide users with advance notice. This does not include website hosting partners and other parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or serving our users, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release information when its release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others’ rights, property or safety. However, non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.
We do not include or offer third-party products or services on our website. We may provide links to our first responder agency partner websites, to certifying organizations, and to privacy policies and security certificates of business that support our business and marketing operations.
Analytics and Marketing
The services contained in this section enable Vitals™ to monitor and analyze web traffic, inform subscribers of helpful information and reminders, and can be used to keep track of user behavior.
Google Analytics (Google Inc.)
Google Analytics is a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google utilizes the Data collected to track and examine the use of this Website, to prepare reports on its activities and share them with other Google services. Google may use the Data collected to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network.

Vitals™ may use Constant Contact to send emails to subscribers, partners and prospects. Your name, email address and zip code may be used in Constant Contact. Review Constant Contact’s Privacy Center for additional data security information.
Specific Laws and Standards
California Online Privacy Protection Act (CCPA)
This CCPA Privacy Notice applies to certain California residents (“Consumers”) from whom we collect personal information as a business under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (California Civil Code §§ 1798.100 to 1798.199) and its implementing regulations, as amended or superseded from time to time (“CCPA”).
For the purposes of this CCPA Privacy Notice, “Personal Information” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular consumer or household, or as otherwise defined by the CCPA.
The CCPA may permit you to request information regarding the:
- Categories of Personal Information (as defined by the CCPA) collected, sold or disclosed by us;
- Purposes for which categories of Personal Information collected by us are used;
- Categories of sources from which we collect Personal Information;
- Categories of third parties with whom we share Personal Information; and
- Specific pieces of Personal Information we have collected about you and in some cases your Household.
In addition, you may:
- Opt-out of the sale, if you are ever notified of our intent to sell of your Personal Information; (Vitals™ does not sell subscriber information).;
- Opt-out of receiving marketing communications from us; however, you may still receive administrative communications regarding our services;
- Request that we and our service providers delete Personal Information we have collected from you, in some circumstances.
COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act)
When it comes to the collection of personal information from children under the age of 13 years old, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) puts parents in control. The Federal Trade Commission, United States Bureau of Consumer Protection, enforces the COPPA Rule, which spells out what operators of websites and online services must do to protect children’s privacy and safety online.
Our services are not designed for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from any person under the age of 13. Parents or guardians may voluntarily provide information about their children in order to communicate said information to emergency responders and authorized public agency personnel.
Fair Information Practices
In accordance with Fair Information Practices, should a data breach occur, we will notify the users via email, website or in-app notification within 7 business days.
The CAN-SPAM Act is a law that sets the rules for commercial email, establishes requirements for commercial messages, gives recipients the right to have emails stopped from being sent to them, and spells out tough penalties for violations. We collect your email address in order to send information, verify subscription services, and respond to inquiries, and/or other requests.
In accordance with CANSPAM, we agree to the following:
• Not use false or misleading subjects or email addresses.
• Identify the message as an advertisement in some reasonable way.
• Include the physical address of our business or site headquarters.
• Monitor third-party email marketing services for compliance, if one is used.
• Honor opt-out/unsubscribe requests quickly.
• Allow users to unsubscribe by using the link at the bottom of each email.
